Get Inspired

While Reading the magazine Fast Company's "100 most creative people in business" from last year. i decided to write down the ones I thought were pretty interesting, I had already mentioned earlier this week the designer of Pamela Love N.Y.C and Neil Blumenthal from Warby Parker.
If you are ever interested in joining a cause, buying locally, joining a new networking site, or discovering a new artists...'I got you" as we say in New York.
  • Yael Cohen who founded the organization and website Fuck Cancer to raise awareness about early detection. This is what she has to say:
  •  "In 2009 my mom, Diane, was diagnosed with breast cancer. This shook me to my core and has, quite obviously, fundamentally changed my life. This was the first time I saw my mom as mortal. And the first time I saw my dad cry. I was very involved in mom’s treatment and recovery, to say it lightly. I was a research machine; I read every book, blog and article I could get my hands on. This is indicative of my generation. We help how we can, with what we know, and we know the digital space and social media. So I made sure that FC harnessed the power of the youth and invited them into a conversation that no one really includes us in."
  • Bjork's Biophilia is a masterpiece with a cause. Her latest album (or should I say application) and project aims to artistically involve children in educational activities with music and science. Her album/application was partly recorded with an Ipad.
  • Need to run an errand but don't have time? Perhaps Task Rabbit is the answer for you. This is what they have to say:

"When Leah Busque realized she needed dog food and didn't have time to buy it herself, a very simple idea was born. What if one of her neighbors, maybe one who was already at the store, could help her out? From this idea, Leah built TaskRabbit, an online and mobile marketplace that connects neighbors to get things done. Neighbors helping neighbors — it's an old school concept upgraded for today. We call it service networking, and it's changing everything."
  • Fashion.me is a website aimed to connect you with web fashionistas, bloggers from all over the globe.
  • Marcus Samuelsson is the creator and owner of Harlem's Red Rooster. A beautiful restaurant that I need to visit soon and which has adapted its menu to celebrate the cultural and ethnic groups living in its community. You'll find from Mexican, to Italian, Caribbean or African-American.
  • Fab.com: Connect with other artists and their designs or display/sell your own work! "Millions of people around the world use Fab to discover everyday design products at great prices, to connect with the world's most exciting designers, and to share their favorite design inspirations.
  • Carrie Brownstein: Actor, Writer, Musician, Singer. She's so funny, perky, sarcastic, introversive and extroversive, just awesome, you have to get to know her. When Fred Armisen and Carrie get together good stuff happens.
Aaaand Last but not least, Aziz Ansari!!
