June 15 2012:
The whole day started in such a confusing way. I woke up at 9:39am hearing an Univision news anchor announcing Napolitano's, and consecutively, Obama's executive decision to provide deferred action to young, undocumented students who qualify under their standards to become low-priority deportation cases and be provided with work permits, for a two-year limit with opportunities to renew. sigh, take a deep breath. did she really just say that? My mom comes towards me to hug me and says "you guys did it! you guys did it!"
Its November already, I sent my application October 1, and now im just waiting for the good news, hoping it will get here before the end of this year, I really want to work soon. At least, things are looking good for immigrants now! After the election, Republicans finally realized that attacking latinos cna hurt them politically so now they are talking of putting together a comprehensive immigration reform, one that at least provides undocumented immigrants with legal permission to work in the US.
Something is something. I know the Dream Act will pass over the next four years because Pres. Obama no longer has to worry about getting re-elected, yes, its all about politics if you didn't know already. And Dream Act is like a piece of the pie, its the easiest ad most justifiable reform out there. It should had been passed years ago.
Its abut time Pres. Obama, and Congress.
In the meantime I will follow some of the recommendations listed by Juan in his blog, they're lovely and definitely all on my list of things to do when my DACA is approved :)
