Going back to a place I hold dear in my heart.

Tomorrow I will be a guest speaker at the High School where I graduated from and I couldn't be more excited! I will speaking to a couple of English classes on Immigration and the new immigration reform bill going on in Congress. Later, in another class, I will speak about my own college experience and the importance of attending college, and take questions from students.

I remember when I used to be a student and we would have guest speakers come over to our classes, to talk about different topics, depending on the subject, I looked up to all of them. It just feels weird to know I will be in their shoes tomorrow. It is a very cool and gratifying feeling to be able to impart knowledge to others, especially if you are passionate about what you are teaching.

I find it very important as an Actress and Activist to be able to share  a part of my life that will always be influenced by immigration and US laws. I believe, as Dreamers and human beings, it is important to share our stories because we all have unique experiences to tell the world. And Dreamers are some of the most passionate people I have encountered in my life, our movement made me the person I am today. As usual, no matter how many times I may stand in front of an audience, it is always nerve-wracking whether it is performing or public speaking.

It's all part of the thrill of putting yourself out there, out in the jungle, and that is the most interesting part of being ME.
