From November 22, 2010

today i asked for the day off to be part of the group of students from my school who went to the CUNY hearing to make themselves heard and tell the board of trustees NO TUITION HIKE! WE WANT FREE EDUCATION or WE ARE POOR WE ARE STUDENTS NO MORE TUITION HIKE (or something like that). it was really wonderful, but sad at the same time. wonderful because i got to see students like lobbying for an issue that concerns us all in this society in general. At the same time, im sad, and part of this is also the dream act, because i know that these institutions/groups are so powerful their will overcomes any courageous desire from the student's part. still, im glad we've tried, because not trying at all would had been worst. Sometimes i just feel like all this activism, aint worthy when the interests of these institutions are higher than the interests of the people they are supposed to serve.
Ater the 5% increase was confirmed all the students went out to protest the tuition hike until this random guy ordered the public safety officers to get us out of the building, and so they did. "ok guys, show's over" WTF DO YOU MEAN SHOWS OVER? we werent giving a show! we were protesting, i thought it was wrong for them to say that! and once the students started the struggle not to leave, the violence increased because both the public safety and the students were pushing each other, thats when i got out in time to witness the animals REALLY pushing the students out and hitting them, one of my friends was pushed real bad and he got so mad that he lost control and almost threw a trash can against the window (london style lol) but all of us were there in time to bring him back to sanity.
after that, we protested for an hour outside of Baruch, with both security and cops this time lol and after that it was pretty much obvious it was over.
