Vegetarianism: Being Weird is the New Normal

Becoming vegetarian is one the best decisions I have made in my life recently and one of the highlights of my 2013.  It had helped me feel better about myself,  for sticking with my decision and for embracing a lifestyle very few people would stand.  I have been in the middle of jokes and interrogations from friends and family since they didn't want to take me seriously.  However,  they too, especially my family, have slowly become a part of my vegetarian life by eating less and less meat everyday.

Because I became vegetarian,  I have stayed away from processed foods to slowly vembrace a RAW life. I stopped using the microwave, become I enjoy having my leftovers in room temperature. I forced myself to buy lots of different salads when I go to the supermarket and it makes me happy to see that the world of salads and veggies has SO MUCH variety that now I have to put Limits to what I'll be consuming that week.

When I go shopping,  I used my judgment to buy products that are organic,  made locally,  vegan if possible, or approved by the usda. I look at their main ingredients and how unusual they are (for example,  last week I bought a package of Bhutanese organic red rice, and I had it for lunch this week, delicious.)

I have also been looking for ways to detox my body and clean colon,  liver, pancreas, etc., one of the most practical I have found is drinking tea (currently I am drinking Yogi's detox tea)

So far it has been a rewarding experience that I plan to keep embracing for years to come. Since becoming vegetarian, I have lost 5 pounds,  I have felt much energized physically and spiritually, and I have decrease my junk food and alcohol  consumption tremendously. It is a work in progress though.
