Happy Holidays to all my readers around the world

I'm so impressed that I haven't written in more than a month and my blog is still being read in different parts of the world. FINE, it is just a humble brag. right. right? Anyway...

I am trying as much as possible to keep it updated with my experiences and adventures but my new job as an organizer leaves me so creatively tired that I can't write as lengthy as I used to. I miss updating my blog on a constant basis so I will make it my goal (new year's resolution?). Writing helps me figure out myself and this blog is pretty much my outlet to do so.

For now, I will give a visual recap of my latest adventures in November and December.

First off was what I called my jewish week, which was the first week of December. I attended the holiday gala for JFREJ (Jews for racial and economic justice) with my organization. It was such a fun and great party, The staff and guests of this organization are super progressive people committed to bringing astounding change to issues affecting New Yorkers, especially POC and Queers. This year they focussed their efforts on campaigns such as immigration reform and Police reform. The people honored throughout the night have both been activists for civil and immigrant rights. It was a great experience to be exposed to this group of the Jewish community that is using their faith together to push for a much more equal society.

That same week I attended my first bar mithzva in Long Island. It was a very ostentatious and expensive affair to say the least. The girl was wearing a beautiful-princess-like dress and I can only hope that her life forward will be characterized by her humanity and her approach to social issues affecting her world and not by the material objects she acquires but like I said, I can only hope. I did dance like there was no tomorrow and my favorite part of the night was when my mother and I danced the horah with the other guests and we saw the family members being raised on a chair in the air. That looked like so much fun, I wished I had been raised in a chair too.

Anyway,  my brother is visiting from SF and my cousin finally moved to the US and they are both spending the holidays with us. It couldn't get better than this for me. I will leave you with this holiday video we filmed Christmas' eve at our place with friends and family. My mom directed it.

Enjoy and see you soon!
